This package includes recordings of 4 webinars. Each one looks at a separate aspect of family quality of life and living through the crisis of a child’s illness.
The package includes the first three webinars of the series; the fourth recording, “How to Raise a Successful and Happy Child with Special Needs,” is included as a bonus.
1. Love and Fatigue
A practical webinar for parents raising children with special needs. It is about the balance between the personal and the sacrificial in real life.
What We Will Talk About
We will talk about questions that, for some reason, are either shamefully kept silent or, on the contrary, dressed up in the armor of artificial slogans: “Give him up” or “Now you must dedicate your life to him…”
But in fact — to him, or to the illness? A good question: what is the difference?
We will discuss how to preserve yourself without betraying a close person who is ill. How to feel the balance of your own life and the non-trivial nature of your particular relationship. And how to come to this balance. Why is this so important? Because it is exactly at this point that the uniqueness of your own destiny unfolds, and space itself suddenly begins to help you carry your mission and fulfill your duty. Why do not all people know this? Because it is easy to fall into complete self-sacrifice without the right to amnesty: if this sacrifice is not justified, ingratitude, your own ill health, or other painful signals may come back to you, showing that by overprotecting a person you are not letting them live their own life. It is just as easy to give in to the temptation of “out of sight, out of mind.”
What You Will Receive by Taking Part in the Webinar
- confidence in yourself and in your actions
- an understanding of how, in fact, our children become happier, and how this can actually be brought into life
- freedom from unnecessary illusions and “musts” that destroy your inner balance and take away your strength
- an understanding of how to bring order into your relationships with your child and close relatives
And, as always, I will share not bookish experience, but REAL, living experience.
2. The Right to Be Happy
How can you touch the serious illness of a close person every day and not lose the sense of quality in your own life? We will break this process down into its components and look at what each of us can do to help ourselves and our child live with a sense of fullness and joy in life. In spite of everything!
Webinar Topics
- What is happiness? What is the real feeling of happiness and satisfaction with life, and how do the media and pop psychology deceive people?
- The crisis of a child’s illness. What is important to know in order to live through it in a healthy way? How can we stop being afraid of crisis? The stages of grief and a healthy attitude toward grieving.
- Setting goals. Why do priorities and goals play such an important role when a child in the family is seriously ill? And how do false goals and beliefs break our lives?
- Is saving the drowning the work of the drowning themselves? This is both true and partly false. How to help yourself and at the same time not remain alone. How to rebuild life and not fall into the role of “victim.”
- Healthy strategies for living through crisis. How not to get stuck in the crisis trap and how to get out of it with benefit for yourself and your child. Yes, yes: even from such a situation it is possible to come out with a “plus.”
In our culture, certain ideas have become deeply fixed:
— “If there is an ill child in the family, you no longer live your own life”
— “You will always suffer now”
— “You will not be able to work, communicate with friends, and close people will turn away from you”
In other words, the presence of an ill child in the family seems to automatically assign a person the status of victim. And a victim, if of course you agree to this scenario, has only one fate: to suffer. Joy automatically pulls a person out of this context. This is called “stigmatization,” or more simply, labeling. The question is: are you ready to sign your life under these social stereotypes?
3. Source of Strength
(in my view, this webinar turned out to be the best in the series). It will be very helpful for those who lack the energy of inspiration. For those who have “gone out.”
In the webinar I talk about an approach to life and psychological techniques that can help you protect yourself from emotional exhaustion and burnout.
Webinar Program
— what crisis is: myths of our culture and the truth of life
— the resources of crisis
— invulnerability as a great illusion of our time
— what real resilience in crisis situations consists of
— why we do not need to fear crisis situations
— how to turn stress to your benefit: changes in thinking
— the source of strength inside us: advice, recommendations, techniques.
Only practical recommendations!
4. How to Raise a Successful and Happy Child with “Special Needs”
A webinar about the abilities and skills that are trained through overcoming crisis. About the inner capital that helped many people become successful. About spiritual growth, spiritual strength, and the strength not to bend under circumstances. About growing up in crisis and the wisdom we gain, which is the only thing we can then pass on to our children. This skill is the most valuable one. It is the baggage that will remain with a person under any circumstances. But making your child happy will have to begin with yourself.
